Embed prototypes

Aha! Whiteboards

Embed prototypes whiteboards to share interactive designs in context. An embedded prototype does not have its own record ID — it lives within the whiteboard where it was inserted. To save a prototype as a standalone record with version history and linked records instead, see Create a prototype.

Embed a prototype in a whiteboard

Add a prototype directly to a whiteboard to bring concepts, discussion, and decisions together in one place.

  • Create the prototype from Elle in your whiteboard.

  • When the prototype is ready, click Show in the Elle chat to open it.

  • In the prototype toolbar, click the Save prototype button and select Embed in [record ID] to add it to the whiteboard.

    • You can also click Share this artifact, copy the URL, and paste it directly onto your whiteboard.

Once added, whiteboard users can interact with the prototype on the canvas:

  • Double-click the prototype to interact with it.

  • Use the prototype toolbar for additional actions:

    • Click Open in new tab to view the prototype in full-screen mode in a separate tab.

    • Click Create new version to open Elle and start a new iteration of the prototype.

    • Click Comment to leave inline whiteboard comments on the prototype.

    • Click Lock to lock the prototype to the whiteboard. It cannot be moved or edited until it is unlocked.

    • Use the More options menu to cut, copy, duplicate, save as a custom shape, or arrange the prototype relative to other objects on your whiteboard.
