How to bulk edit and delete votes

Aha! Ideas

Submitted ideas help you understand what your customers need, and the number of votes on an idea tells you how many people need it. Popular ideas are often (but not always) valuable ideas. When you are evaluating ideas, you might want to focus only on recent votes or exclude votes from certain people, like internal colleagues or churned customers.

You can do this analysis in Aha! reports today with filtering and segments. But you might also want the vote count on the idea to reflect this focus as well. Bulk edit an idea's votes to start fresh or to remove votes that do not add useful insight.

Report on votes

The first step of deleting votes in bulk is to create a list report. If you want to delete votes for a single idea, you can open a report directly from the idea:

  • Open the idea and access its Votes tab.

  • Click View details next to the idea's vote count. A table listing the idea's votes will open.

  • Click View in report.

A list report of all the idea's votes will open.

If you have imported a set vote count with an idea, the vote count will not be included in reports (as records for those votes do not exist within your account). You can delete these votes by reimporting the idea with a vote count of zero.

To delete votes for more than one idea, create a list report of votes. Select Idea votes as the record type when building your report. Then use filters to narrow in on the votes you want to include in your report.

Edit or delete votes in bulk

Once you have your votes in a list report, you can use the bulk edit function to delete them:

  • Check the boxes next to the votes you want to delete.

  • Click Bulk edit.

  • In the bottom-left of the bulk edit window, click Delete votes.

If you have proxy voting (available in Aha! Ideas Advanced) configured in your account, you can delete those votes by bulk editing as well. You can also bulk edit any standard or custom field on proxy votes.

If you delete a portal user's vote from an idea, they will remain subscribed to the idea and will still receive updates on it. Portal users can unsubscribe themselves from ideas on which they no longer wish to receive updates.
