Figma extension

Design is a critical part of any development workflow — but searching for a design file's link wastes time and patience that could be better spent crafting lovable features. The Figma extension centralizes that link on your Aha! record with a preview of its contents. Zoom in on the part of the file you need right from the record, or click on it to open it in Figma.

  • Select your Aha! account.

  • Your Aha! account's Customization settings will open. (You need to be an administrator with customization permissions to access this page.)

Add the Figma field to your custom layout

Now that the Figma extension is enabled, you need to add the Figma custom field to your work records. To do this, adjust the view layout for the record type(s).

  • Navigate to Settings ⚙️→ Account -> Custom layouts. You need to be an administrator with customization permissions to access this page.

  • Select the record type(s) that need to display Figma files. These are usually Aha! features.

  • Select the layout(s) that you want to modify. Different teams in your Aha! account can use different record layouts, so be sure to select the right one.

  • Records have two types of layouts: one for when they are first created, and one for when they move through their workflow. Select the [Record] View layout tab to adjust this second option.

  • From the left-side Extension fields option, search for or scroll to find your new Figma extension field. Then, drag it onto the appropriate place on the example record layout in the center of the screen.

  • Hover over the Impacts workspace(s) list with your mouse to confirm that you have adjusted the right layout for your team. Lastly, click Save layout.

You can also navigate to your team settings (Settings ⚙️→ Team -> Configure -> Custom layouts) to confirm that a given team is using the appropriate record layout.

Congratulations! You are ready to use the Figma extension. Anyone who can edit records in your Aha! account can now add Figma design links to an Aha! record.

  • Open the Aha! record and scroll down to the Figma custom field.

  • Paste the Figma file's link into the field.

If you or anyone on your team sees an error that the Figma extension is disabled, check your personal settings at Settings ⚙️→ Personal -> Extensions to ensure the Figma extension is enabled for your user. Again, this step exists so users only see the extensions that are relevant to their workflows.
