Aha! Ideas

This article discusses functionality that is included in the Aha! Ideas Advanced plan. Please contact us if you would like a live demo or want to try using it in your account.

Your ideas portal gives customers a way to share feedback, but they also need context about what you are working on and how their input informs your plans. Custom pages bring that information into the same place. Share planned work and progress in a roadmap or report, publish updates and guidance in a note, or add a polls page to ask focused questions and gather feedback.

Add pages for the information and feedback opportunities that are most useful to each community. If you use separate portals for customers and internal teams, tailor each portal's pages to the information that community needs. An ideas portal with a custom portal page called "Guide". The page shows how to submit a new idea with a diagram.

Roadmap or report

You can share any roadmap or report that you have created in Aha! After you enable sharing, a customization administrator can add it to a roadmap custom page in your portal.

  1. Create and save the roadmap or report you want to share.

  2. Open the Sharing menu and select Share as webpage.

  3. Select Enable sharing to an ideas portal.

  4. Choose whether portal users can filter the report or drill in to view record details.

  5. Select Close.

A shared roadmap reflects changes to its underlying data. A green dot on the roadmap indicates that it is shared in an ideas portal.

A portal roadmap shows the information available to the person who created the report. Review the report's access and sharing settings before you publish it.

Note

Use notes for release announcements, portal guidance, product education, and other written updates. You can also share a group of nested notes on one custom page. Portal users will see the notes in a left-side navigation.

Changes to a shared note appear in the portal automatically. If you need to prepare a substantial update before portal users see it, draft the content in a separate note and copy it into the shared note when it is ready.

Embedded Aha! views do not appear directly in shared notes. Portal users will see a link to the report instead. Avoid embedding views in notes that you share with external portal users.

Poll

Use polls when you want to ask portal users a focused question about their needs, priorities, or experience. A polls page can show multiple active polls.

  1. Navigate to Research → Polls.

  2. Select New poll.

  3. Enter a Title and choose a Question type.

  4. Enter your question and configure the available answers.

  5. Select Create poll.

Creating a poll does not publish it. Review the poll details, add an introduction or optional text field if needed, and then open the Portals tab.

To publish the poll in your ideas portal:

  1. Turn on Active.

  2. Choose who can view the poll: Visible to creator, Visible to internal users, or Visible to all.

  3. Add a thumbnail image if you want one to appear on the polls page.

An active poll appears in every ideas portal in the workspace that includes a polls page. Portal users only see polls that are visible to them.

If your portal has a polls page but no visible active polls, portal users will not see the page.

Manage the portal experience

Custom pages appear in your portal navigation in the order shown in your portal's Pages settings. Drag and drop pages to change their order.

You can also:

  • Set a page as the primary tab so it is the first page visitors see.

  • Edit a page to update its name, heading, description, or shared content.

  • Hide a page temporarily by turning off Visible.

  • Delete a page when you no longer need it.

Portal users can view custom pages based on the access settings for your portal. Anyone can view pages in a public portal. Users must sign in before they can view pages in a private portal.
