Sometimes one idea inspires another. Other times, the work required to make one idea a reality could easily cover a few more. And very few ideas live in a vacuum.
To keep everything sorted, you can link ideas to each other through a variety of relationship types. These record links are internal — ideas portal users will not see how you have connected ideas together, but users in your Aha! Ideas account will have the full context when they open or report on ideas.

Create record links
To create a link between two ideas, open the detail view for an idea and click the More options button in the upper-right corner.
Click Link to another record to open the Record link modal.
Choose the record relationship type from the top dropdown.
Begin typing an idea's reference number or title, then select the idea(s) from the search suggestions that you'd like to link. Click Create link.
Select a record relationship type
Your record link can be any one of six relationship types.
Relates to: This is the most generic relationship. Use this when records are related but don't fit into the other relationship types.
Depends on / is a dependency of: This is the most commonly used relationship. It states that one record must be completed before another can start.

Duplicates / is Duplicated by: You may want to track duplicate ideas. For example, if you have ideas across several workspaces and want to keep them separate, you may choose to link them through the duplicate relationship type.
If you have duplicative ideas in the same workspace, you can always merge them.
Contains / is contained by: If you are working on an idea that will be part of another idea, use this link to show the relationship. For example, a customer might have had a great idea for a new report — and you already have an idea to enhance your entire reporting suite.
Impacts / is impacted by: This could represent an idea that will ultimately impact another (but does not create a dependency).
Blocks / is blocked by: This could represent an idea that completely blocks another because, until you complete the first, you cannot begin to address the second. This relationship could be helpful in reporting tradeoffs you've made as you prioritize submitted ideas.
Once you have created a record link, you can see it on each idea's Linked records section within the record's Related tab. Click one of the hyperlinks to see the drawer view of the linked idea.
If you have a Related tab with a lot of record links, it can be helpful to know those links' sort order. Ideas are sorted by each record link's creation date, and links that are Relates to and Depends on are kept separate.
View record links on the related tab
See all the records that are linked to an idea on its Related tab. An idea's Related tab displays merged ideas, polls (Aha! Ideas Advanced), empathy sessions (Aha! Ideas Advanced, and similar ideas that are linked to the idea. You can also see ideas that people also voted for.
The Related tab on ideas is configurable. Navigate to Settings ⚙️ -> Account -> Custom layouts to configure your ideas layout. You may need to click More to reveal the Related tab.
Report on record links
Ideas relationships can help you highlight customer feedback trends or focus on single ideas that could unlock many more benefits for your users. Add the Record links field to a list report, pivot table, or chart to visualize how ideas relate to each other.
You can also report on fields in linked ideas. Use the [Record type] record links table in any report. Then, add the Linked [record type] table and select any field (like Status, Assignee, or Due date) on the linked record's layout.
