Knowledge base redirects

Aha! Knowledge

As your knowledge base grows, you need to move, combine, or rename articles. Original URLs can change when this happens — existing links from your product, documentation, and external sites may still point to old addresses. Without a redirect in place, people who follow those links can land on a 404 page instead of the information they expect. This creates confusion, slows down self-service, and increases the chance that someone opens a support ticket for something that is already documented.

Redirects in Aha! Knowledge route people from those outdated URLs to the correct articles so readers can keep using familiar links and still reach accurate information.

Overview

Redirects in Aha! Knowledge are permanent 301 redirects. Each redirect maps a source URL path in a knowledge base to a specific destination document in the same knowledge base. When you redirect the URL of a parent document, Aha! Knowledge also redirects all matching child document URLs.

Workspace owners can create and manage redirects for a knowledge base.

Manage redirects

Use the Redirects section of the Knowledge base management page to review and maintain your mappings over time.

  • Sort redirects by Knowledge base, Created date, or Created by filters.

  • Search by URL path to find a specific redirect before you update or remove it.

This helps you keep track of redirects created during large cleanups or migrations.

Delete a redirect

Remove redirects when you no longer need them. For example, you might delete a redirect when the destination article is archived, the mapping is incorrect, or you want to repurpose the original URL.

The original URL no longer points to the destination article when you remove a redirect. If there is no other page at that URL, visitors who follow it will see the standard 404 page for your knowledge base.

To delete a redirect:

  1. Navigate to Knowledge -> Management and select Redirects.

  2. Hover over a redirect and select Delete.
