Import Gong recordings

Aha! Discovery

Gong is a revenue intelligence platform that uses AI to record and analyze customer conversations. Gong is not a web conferencing service. It joins scheduled meetings via a bot to capture recordings and transcripts. This article explains how to record in Gong, export files, and import them into an Aha! Discovery interview.

Confirm Gong settings

To save and export videos and transcripts from Gong, you must configure your account to allow users to record meetings. You also will need to configure your recording settings. An administrator in your Gong account can do this for you.

Configure user permissions

  1. In your Gong account, navigate to Admin center -> Settings -> People -> Permission profiles.

  2. Assign the Standard team member or Business admin permission profile to users who will record meetings.

  3. Assign the Collaborator or greater permission profile to users who will download videos and transcripts.

Configure recording settings

  1. In your Gong account, navigate to Admin center -> Settings -> Data capture -> Recording settings.

  2. Find the Web conferencing calls section and configure settings by answering questions:

    1. Which meetings should be recorded? How you answer this question is up to your organization, but ensure that the team members who need to record calls have permission.

    2. Should Gong record video? Choose between audio and video. What you choose is up to your organization; both audio and video recordings will generate a transcript in Gong.

  3. Ensure Gong supports your web conferencing provider and manage consent requirements for recording.

Individuals who will record meetings with Gong must install the Gong calendar add-on for Google Workspace or Outlook.

Import to Aha! Discovery

Workspace contributors can import transcripts and videos directly to interview records in Aha! Discovery. Transcripts must be in VTT, TXT, DOC, or DOCX format. Videos must be in MP4 format.

To import a transcript or video file:

  • Navigate to the interview in Aha! Discovery and open its Details view.

  • Click Upload transcript or Import video to import your file. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the file into the box that says Drop video or transcript here to upload.

The transcript will load in the main body of the interview's Details page. From here, you can manually highlight insights or use AI-powered transcript analysis (available in Aha! Discovery Advanced) to capture key learnings, analyze sentiment, and more.

The video will display in the upper-left corner of the interview's Details page. When you play the video, dialogue will be underlined in the transcript so you can follow along.

If you are unable to upload a transcript, you can use AI transcription to transcribe uploaded video or audio. AI translation consumes AI credits.
