Mind maps help you visualize relationships between topics, see gaps, and quickly reorganize ideas as your thinking evolves. Build a mind map on a whiteboard to make everything even simpler. You can quickly add, move, and group items so patterns emerge fast. Because the whole team can view the same map, everyone can participate and align on priorities and decisions. Create a mind map

  1. Open the Shapes menu from the whiteboard toolbar. Then, select a Mind map option (horizontal or vertical) from the Advanced shapes section.

  2. Click the whiteboard to place a central node with two branches.

  3. From here, you can perform various actions to build out the mind map:

    1. Click a node and begin typing to label it.

    2. Click the blue + dot on the side of a node or press the Enter key to add a sibling node.

    3. Click the blue + dot at the end of a node or press the Tab key to add a child node.

    4. Drag and drop to rearrange the branches of your mind map.

Customize its style

that. You can use color to highlight key branches of your visual hierarchy so patterns stand out quickly. This improves readability when you share your mind map during reviews or presentations.

Use the mind map's toolbar to make style edits:

  • Shape: Choose from any basic shape for the nodes on your mind map.

  • Theme: Choose a color theme for your mind map. There are several themes to choose from:

    • Select Color by level to give each layer of the mind map a new color.

    • Select Color by branch to give each branch in the mind map a new color.

    • Select Custom to select a single color for the entire mind map.

  • Orientation: Choose a horizontal or vertical orientation.

  • Connector style: Choose straight or angled connectors.

Like any other shape you can add to your whiteboard, you can also customize the fill color, border color, and line style of each node. You can also use all the basic text styling and formatting options.
