Use prototypes to quickly validate ideas and gather early feedback. You can embed prototypes in feature descriptions, meeting notes, and anywhere else that is useful to get stakeholders clicking through interactive designs. Prototypes are an excellent way to iterate through lightweight models towards a vision that everyone can align around.

Create a prototype
The AI assistant will create prototypes for you based on prompts you give it — and can automatically recognize whether a given prompt involves prototyping, and switch from the default to the Prototype agent.
Your prompt can come from one of these places:
An Aha! record: If you have spent time on a note, feature, idea, or whiteboard collaborating on what an idea could look like, open the AI assistant from that record. The record itself will be included as context for the assistant, so when you ask for a prototype it will take all your progress into account.
The AI prompt library: Customize pre-built suggestions, like the feature prototype or prototype for a popular idea, to build your own prompt.
A new chat: The AI assistant can build prototypes from your own prompt. Be specific in your directions, and consider asking the assistant first to analyze your prompt and suggest improvements before it builds your idea.
Once you give it your prompt, the AI assistant will get to work. After it has finished, you can interact with its first draft, suggest changes, and iterate as necessary.
Embed prototypes in Aha! records
Share your prototype with stakeholders who can help you refine it. To do this, you can embed it in Aha! records like feature descriptions and workspace notes, just as you would an image or video.
From the AI chat where you created the prototype:
Click Show to open the prototype.
In the top right corner, click the Share icon.
Copy the link to the artifact.
Did the chat where you created the prototype include the record where you want to embed it as context? Great! You will see an extra + option to insert the prototype directly into the record.
From the Aha! record where you want to embed the prototype:
Paste the link in the record where you want it to appear.
Optionally, you can also click the + menu on the text editor toolbar, then Embedded content, and paste the link there.
Your prototype will embed in the Aha! record for everyone to see.
Embed a prototype in a whiteboard
Add a prototype directly to a whiteboard to bring concepts, discussion, and decisions together in one place.
Create the prototype from the AI assistant in your whiteboard.
When the prototype is ready, select Show in the AI assistant chat to open it.
-
In the upper right of the prototype, select the Add to record icon and click Add to [record ID] to confirm.
Alternatively, you can select Share this artifact on any AI-generated prototype in your Aha! account, copy the URL, and paste it directly onto your whiteboard.
Once added, whiteboard users can interact with the prototype on the canvas, add comments, and more:
Double-click the prototype to interact with it.
-
Select options from the prototype's toolbar to do more:
Select Open in new tab to open the prototype in full-screen mode in a separate tab.
Select Create new version to open the AI assistant and start a new version of the prototype.
Select Comment to leave in-line whiteboard comments on the prototype.
Select Lock to lock the prototype to the whiteboard. It cannot be moved or edited until it is unlocked.
Use the More options menu to cut, copy, and duplicate the prototype, save a prototype as a custom shape, or arrange it in respect to other objects on your whiteboard.
Interact with embedded prototypes
Click and drag on an embedded prototype's borders to resize it.
Click on an embedded prototype to adjust it. From the embedded media toolbar:
Toggle between Embed and Link view. If you choose Link, people who click on the link will see the prototype in fullscreen.
Click to Create new version. This will open the AI assistant using both the Aha! record and the existing prototype as context, so you can create a new version based on the original and your adjustments.
Delete the embedded prototype.
Double-click on an embedded prototype to interact with it. From here, you and anyone who has access to the Aha! record can experience the prototype.
Since prototypes originate in a chat with the AI assistant, only the prototype's creator can adjust the original prototype. But anyone with appropriate permissions can click Create new version to iterate on — and embed — the original design.
