Elle, the Aha! AI assistant, includes multiple agents, each optimized for a different type of work. Some are designed for quick answers and everyday tasks, while others are better suited for deeper research, polished writing, or early product exploration.
Understanding what each agent is best at helps you get faster, more relevant results — and make thoughtful use of your AI credits. This article provides a high-level overview of each agent so you can confidently choose the right one when you are ready to work.

Universal agent
The Universal agent is the default Aha! AI experience and a great place to start for most prompts. Like all AI agents, it can include the page, record, or report you are on as context for your prompt. Use the Universal agent when you want concise answers, light analysis, or help creating and updating records without deep reasoning or extended research.
Not sure which agent to pick? Start with the Universal agent. Elle will pick another if it is better suited to your request.

Research agent
The Research agent is built for complex questions that benefit from deeper reasoning and broader context. It spends more time analyzing your prompt, can evaluate more information independently, and is well suited for exploratory or strategic work. Unlike other agents, the Research agent always delivers its output as a document artifact, making it easy to review, refine, and share longer-form results.

It integrates directly into text editors across Aha! products, automatically using the record context — and any highlighted text — to produce more relevant results. This agent includes guided actions such as outlining, drafting, rewriting, and improving clarity, making it ideal for turning rough ideas into polished content.

Custom agents
Don't see the agent you need? Use one of the custom agents in our template library (just change the Type dropdown to Agent), or create your own!
Use custom agents to tailor Elle to your team's specific workflows, terminology, and best practices. You can define instructions that guide how the agent responds, making it easier to standardize outputs or support specialized use cases. Custom agents are especially helpful when you want consistent results across repeated tasks or need the AI to follow a particular framework or voice.
